Nancy and her husband Frank moved from Montreal to The County eight years ago to refurbish and open the 1850s farmhouse that is now The Wilfrid, a boutique Bed & Breakfast that delivers the luxury of detail oriented service. Nancy, also an accomplished artist, is a member of The Prince Edward County Arts Council, and is working on a portrait series of PEC residents that will have an exhibition in 2025.
What is your favourite part about running a Bed & Breakfast?
As a chef and designer duo, we've created a multi-sensory stay experience that focuses on creative cuisine and wellness, and we're constantly pushing the envelope on what a Bed & Breakfast can be. For example, instead of traditional breakfast fare, every morning our guests are treated to a 4-5 course brunch full of sustainably sourced ingredients and imaginative cuisine—probably one of the most memorable meals you'll ever have before noon!
What are your insider tips to help people have a great trip to The County?
The pace in The County is much slower and that's a good thing! Remember to take a breath, slow down and take it all in. There's no reason to rush or try to fill your days with bookings and activities - winter walks on the beach, people watching, and doing a lot of "nothing" is also really great when you're here. You can always come back and do more next time you visit!
