Georgia's Insider Tips

Georgia Papanicolaou works for The County Museums as the Event and Programming Lead. Having grown up in Prince Edward County,Georgia has deep roots in the community, as their parents moved there when they were just 6 months old. The County Museums focus on interpreting the rich heritage of Prince Edward County by collecting, preserving, and showcasing material culture that reflects its captivating essence. This includes natural history specimens, historical artifacts, stories, art objects, and heritage sites. The museums also provide unique settings for community events, ceremonies, and celebrations. They oversee 35 buildings and structures, approximately 50,000 artifacts, heritage gardens, parkland, orchards, outdoor exhibits, and an early 19th-century cemetery.

If PEC was a signature dish, what would it be and which ingredients would it include?

PEC would be a farm to table home cooked breakfast! With farm fresh eggs, sausages and bacon from the local butcher, and some cappuccino and baked goods from Agrarian Market!

What's your perfect day in The County?

My perfect day in Prince Edward County would be a slow paced Saturday! I love sleeping in, going out for a nice brunch and then grabbing a coffee to go so that I can take a leisurely drive on County roads, especially County Rd 8 as I absolutely love driving thru Waupoos and Cressy and ending up at Lake on the Mountain! On the drive to Waupoos I would grab some tarts from the tart stand, stop into Cressy Mustard for Lunch and then pop up to The County Cider Company for some of their famous Cider and enjoy a drink on their outdoor patio area overlooking the water! Window shopping is a must, so after Lake on the Mountain I would drive into Picton and hop in and out of shops to check out the newest wares!
