Explore a County collection

Attend a special event

Visitors don’t just fall for Prince Edward County’s culinary charm; history & heritage, and geography buffs are equally drawn to our historic towns and villages.  Our five local museums are the keepers of 225+ years of Indigenous history, cultural artifacts, heritage gardens, parklands, orchards and outdoor exhibits. We acknowlege traditional land that has been inhabited by the Anishnaabeg, Wendat, and Haudenosaunee Peoples and adjacent to the Kanien’keha:ka (Mohawk) community of Tyendinaga.

Five sites, hundreds of stories

The County Museums are gathering spaces to engage with local heritage, the material and intangible alike, and to reflect on the compelling ties it shares with Prince Edward County’s vibrant and contemporary culture. We interpret the rich heritage of Prince Edward County by collecting, preserving, and exhibiting the material culture that best illustrates its captivating essence, including natural history specimens, historical artifacts, stories, objects of art and heritage sites.

The five County Museums are the guardians of 35 buildings/structures and an estimated 25,000 artifacts. They are also the caretakers of heritage gardens, parkland, orchards, outdoor exhibits and an early 19th century cemetery.

Exhibits that spark curiosity

At the County Museums you can explore exhibits that speak to the area's Indigenous history (A Path Forward, Macaulay Heritage Park), its Loyalist roots (The Loyalist Era, Wellington Heritage Museum), or the region's connection to the infamous Avro Arrow (Searching for the Arrow: The County Connection to a Canadian Legend, Mariners Park Museum). In addition to changing exhibits at all five sites, Ameliasburgh Heritage Village, Rose House Museum and Macaulay House at Macaulay Heritage Park serve as living time capsules, enabling visitors to feel as though they've entered another era.
