Melt Studio and Gallery
Melt Studio and Gallery is located just outside Picton in a historical air force barracks BASE31 built in 1940 as part of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan (BCATP). The gallery has been operating since June 2021. Melt Studio and Gallery is managed and run by Canadian encaustic artist Susan Wallis (www.susanwallis.com) and is the home to her encaustic working studio. Wallis curates this space with local artists and artisans along with a selection of artists from across Canada. The gallery hosts throughout the year both group and solo shows in a variety of mediums. The gallery’s mandate is to foster and enhance public awareness, understanding, and appreciation for the positive cultural significance of the visual arts by showcasing all levels of visual artists and artisans through the exhibition. The Space Melt has a working encaustic studio, one large open concept gallery space, 2 smaller small project rental galleries, and one showroom.
