Prince Edward County Winegrowers Association

Welcome to Prince Edward County, a Designated Viticultural Area in Ontario with close to 40 wineries and new ones popping up every year. Members of the Prince Edward County Winegrowers Association are true pioneers – tenacious, innovative and passionate.

The limestone-rich soils of Prince Edward County produce wines with an unmistakable sense of place. The natural minerality of the soil is highlighted in the wines along with other flavours developed from the nutrients and minerals that the grapes absorb as they grow. Many wineries specialize in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, which do particularly well here due to the moderating lake effect on the climate and since these varieties tend to readily pick up the characteristics of the soil bringing unique flavour profiles to the wine. Prince Edward County is still a relatively young wine region and since our winemakers have an adventurous spirit, there are lots of wineries doing innovative things with Cabernet Franc, Riesling, Gamay, Pinot Gris, Baco Noir, Merlot and quite a few more…

The Winegrowers Association is here to help you plan your own wine tour, connect you with their members, and host unforgettable wine-centric events like Élevage, Terroir, and Wassail.
