Experience/Attraction, Beaches

An advance booking system is in place for day use at Sandbanks and North Beach Provincial Parks. During the busy summer season The County posts updates on beach capacity here.

North Beach is a day-use only park. Reservations are recommended. Use the day-use permit reservation system to guarantee your spot. Picnic tables and toilet facilities are conveniently located along the beach. There is plenty of parking for visitors, but parking outside Park gates can lead to a $400 fine. There are no overnight camping facilities. If you are interested in camping in Prince Edward County, try Sandbanks Provincial Park. Please be aware of dangerous undertow conditions on Lake Ontario during windy days.

Beautiful North Beach Provincial Park has a ribbon of sand over one-kilometer long that shelters tiny North Beach from Lake Ontario. The sandy beach is a great place to picnic on a summer day or take a stroll. Swim or boat in the sheltered waters of the bay or the more open Lake Ontario. This park is a quieter park than its more famous neighbour – Sandbanks. Visitors to North Beach may see hawks, saw-whet owls or turkey vultures. Anglers visiting North Beach could catch largemouth bass, northern pike, perch and sunfish.

North Beach offers 1,200 metres of sandy beach facing Lake Ontario and another 800 metres of sand beach on North Bay. Waters drop off gradually on the lake side and steeply on the bay side. There is a small canteen where park souvenirs and traditional fast food and beverages can be purchased. It is located along the Park’s main road.
