ONLY IN THE OFF SEASON
GOOD DAYS OUT
Winter offers, weekly rituals and good reasons to get out.
MAKE A WEEKEND OF IT
GOOD TO KNOW
Main-street rooms, grocery stores, trails and a smaller group of studios, tasting rooms and kitchens stay open. Thursday through Sunday is the most reliable rhythm; always check the operator's hours the same day.
Driving is the practical way to arrive and explore: about 2h 20m from Toronto, 1h from Kingston and 2h 30m from Ottawa. The Glenora ferry runs year-round but can pause in heavy ice; the Loyalist Parkway is the reliable alternative.
The Off Season runs November through March, and it's the stretch when The County is most available: rooms are easier to get, tables are easier to book, and the people behind them have time to talk. The summer version of the place goes quiet, and a different set of things runs instead — saunas and firesides, fondue in a barn, snowshoes through the vines.
A winter-only rate or experience from a County business — a third night free, a winemaker's table, a studio day — available only while the Off Season is on.
