Between Us – Sara Keller

Between Us is an installation of cyanotype portrait prints on translucent fabric. The portraits depict members of the artist’s chosen “village” in Prince Edward County – ones who have become extended family while living far from relatives. “I’ve found that rural communities especially, support systems are often built through friendship, proximity, and everyday acts of care. This project acknowledges those quiet networks of reciprocity and presence,” says Sara.

This installation combines photography with the historic cyanotype process, embracing its rich blue tones and subtle variations. Transparency and layering are central to the installation, reflecting how community is formed through intersecting lives and shared experience.

Sara Keller is a mixed media installation artist based in Picton, Ontario and co-owner of The Keller Creative. She creates site-responsive art installations for public and private spaces, with a practice shaped by material exploration, light, and thoughtful presentation. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography with a minor in Art History from the University of Missouri. Her background in photography continues to inform her work, particularly through her focus on cyanotype printmaking. Using this camera-less photographic process, Keller creates layered images that explore time, place, and shared presence. In addition to her studio work, Keller is an active member of the local arts community and regularly leads hands-on workshops and lessons for both adults and kids, emphasizing play and process-based art making.
