Portal to the Cosmos

Small Town is a satirical, character-driven dramedy full of humour and heart. Written by local, award winning songwriter and playwright, Megan Hutton.

 In Monroe, tradition reigns, Main Street is both courthouse and gathering place, and change sparks chaos. When mayoral hopeful Kyle Monroe’s manifesto leaks, rumours fly, old routines crumble, and fear spreads. Kate Wright  puts the town’s newspaper up for sale, Cecilia Parish fans town wide panic, and Mayor Lyle clings to fading stability. Friendships fracture, secrets surface, and the town must reckon with what matters most—its past, its people, its future.

Starring Aaron Armstrong, Bill McMahon and featuring performances from Amy Reid, Bill Petch, Gabriel Guadagnin, John P Betts, Carol Manheimm, Jay Scott and Melissa MacDonald.

Berry Basket - Handbuilding Workshop Date: July 21st Time: 6:00 – 9:00pm Cost: $80 per person Location: 256 Picton Main St Ages: 16+ Join us for a fun and creative 3-hour handbuilding pottery workshop where you’ll design and create your very own Berry Basket! Please come with your inspiration. This one-time class is perfect for beginners — no experience needed. You’ll be guided through foundational handbuilding techniques to shape and personalize your berry basket, adding your own unique details along the way. There will be time to add details to your items! However, if you’d like to create something super detailed, we do recommend coming back once your item has been bisque fired to paint your piece — at no extra cost! Once complete, your piece will be professionally glazed in a food-safe finish and ready for pickup within approximately 4 weeks. We do offer shipping if you are from out of town.&nbsp; What to Expect:<ul><li>A hands-on, beginner-friendly clay experience</li><li>A little mess (it’s part of the fun!) — all materials wash out easily with water or in the laundry</li><li>The final 20 minutes of the class will be dedicated to clean-up</li></ul>What to Bring:<ul><li>An apron</li><li>A hand towel</li><li>Sketch Book&nbsp;</li><li>Short, trimmed nails are recommended for working with clay (we’re happy to offer workarounds if needed!)</li></ul>You’re welcome to bring your own non-alcoholic beverages to enjoy during the workshop. Please note that pottery is handmade and results can vary. Occasionally, items may crack or break during the kiln firing process. While rare, if this happens we are unfortunately unable to replace the item. Registration &amp; Payment All registrations are non-refundable. Your payment secures your spot and covers materials prepared specifically for your class. Please confirm your availability prior to registering. Punctuality Class instruction begins promptly at the scheduled start time. Key demonstrations will not be repeated for late arrivals. If you arrive more than 5 minutes late, you may miss essential steps and may be unable to complete your project. Refunds, credits, or make-up sessions cannot be provided for late arrivals or no-shows. Cancellations by County Creative In the rare event that a class must be cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control (such as instructor illness, weather, power outages, or equipment issues), you will be notified as soon as possible. You will have the option to reschedule or receive a studio credit for the full value of your registration. Refunds will not be issued in these cases. Berry Basket - Handbuilding Workshop

“All of the water on Earth comes from space. It was deposited at the Earth’s formation by asteroids and comets. And that means that the water is older than the planet, and it’s probably even older than the sun. And that I think is a source of genuine wonder, genuine awe. When I was doing my PhD in astrophysics, they discovered the first planet orbiting another star. And since then, scientists have found over 5,000 new planets. The thing is, every single one of those other planets is garbage. As far as we know, the Earth is the only good planet. It’s the only planet that supports life, it’s the only planet where fun is possible. And I think it’s worth preserving.” - Kate Marvel, climate scientist and author, former NASA scientistWater is essential in supporting life, yet every day we take it for granted. As we go about our busy lives, water and a few other things we actually need to survive become afterthoughts. Every day, poor decisions that are affecting water and therefore the health of our planet are moving us closer to irreversible damage and an unbearable future. From drought to floods, we’re already experiencing the effects of extreme weather caused by the climate crisis. I hope these installations will inspire us to slow down, reflect and take action against climate change, because it affects everyone and everything that we love.<a target="_blank" rel="noopener" href="https://countyarts.ca/our-members/gosia/">Gosia Kościółek</a> was born in Poland in 1982 and moved to Toronto, Canada, in 1994, at the age of twelve. Her background in Illustration from Sheridan College and her early career as a painter have led to her passion for sculpting. Her sculptural works have been exhibited in galleries and art fairs in cities such as Toronto, Montreal, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, London, Rome and Moscow, to name a few. Gosia’s sculptures have been featured in numerous publications such as Hi-Fructose Magazine, Create Magazine, Steadfast Art Magazine, Canadian Interiors Magazine and House &amp; Home Magazine. She is currently living and working in Prince Edward County, Canada.Water&nbsp;is on exhibition July 17th-September 2nd, 2026, in the County Arts Lab Vitrines, located just outside the County Arts Lab in the Armoury, Picton (Unit 2E, 206 Main Street).All are invited to attend the County Arts 40th Anniversary party and opening reception of&nbsp;Water on Friday, July 17th, 2026 from 5-8 PM.

ANDARA Gallery and Canadian musician Astrid Young announce “VORTEX” … an exhibition that utilizes Art • Music • Wine + “Tap to Play” Technology to deliver a unique visitor experience! •	Central to this unique collaboration is a summer-long VORTEX Art Exhibition at ANDARA Gallery from June 21st through September 7th, 2026 showcasing new works by artists Andrew Csafordi and Tara Wilkinson inspired by the music of Astrid Young. Visitors will see two completely different interpretations … one using the ancient technique of painting with melted beeswax (encaustic paintings) by Andrew Csafordi … the other a series of photographic portraits by Tara Wilkinson of women who moved here from elsewhere and now call Prince Edward County their home and community. All works of art and music will be available for purchase. •	 In addition to the artwork displayed on the gallery’s walls … visitors will see a bottle of wine paired with each VORTEX work of art and song - curated in partnership with six leading local wineries: Closson Chase Vineyards, Karlo Estates Winery, The Grange of Prince Edward Winery, Rosehall Run Vineyards, Sandbanks Estate Winery and Three Dog Winery. • Smartphone holders will enjoy an enhanced visitor experience thanks to an NFC chip embedded in the tag of each VORTEX artwork. By tapping their smartphones to the tag, visitors will be able to instantly hear the song that inspired the art, view the artwork digitally, access tasting notes about the paired wine, and other related content, powered by Musical Bead. • Visitors at the participating wineries will also be able to enjoy the unique VORTEX Art • Music • Wine experience by tapping their smartphones to the tag hanging on the featured bottle of wine to access tasting notes, see the paired artwork, hear the song that inspired the art, learn more about the musician and artists, and so much more.
