South Marysburgh
Location: 2109 County Road 13, South Bay, connecting to Lake Ontario Water Access: South Bay Tucked away in a serene inlet, the South Bay launch offers a peaceful, shaded access point to South Bay and onward to Lake Ontario. This rustic, quiet launch site is perfect for paddlers looking for a tranquil escape, but it’s not suitable for large or motorized boats. With no crowds and no launch fees, it's an ideal spot for canoe, kayak, or paddleboard enthusiasts. Key Features: Launch Surface: There is a short, 5-metre concrete ramp with a gravel and grass approach that provides access to the water. However, the ramp ends right at the waterline with no underwater extension, so it's best suited for small, non-motorized watercraft and not suitable for larger vessels. Dock: A narrow, 5-metre fixed wood dock with a single cleat offers basic but functional mooring. Fairway: The water channel adjacent to the ramp is narrow (less than 5 metres), requiring a quick turn after launching. Site Conditions & Considerations: Limited Space: The tight, narrow channel and shallow water make it unsuitable for large or motorized boats. Parking: There is no dedicated parking lot, but informal parking is available nearby, free of charge. Shallow Water: Water levels can vary, and the ramp may be fully exposed during dry conditions. The water at the end of the dock is typically around 30 cm deep, perfect for smaller watercraft. Best For: Canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards Nature lovers seeking a quiet, shaded launch site Visitors wanting a peaceful outing with a nearby picnic area Nearby Amenities: Shaded picnic area for relaxing before or after paddling Quiet, natural surroundings perfect for a peaceful day on the water This launch site is an ideal spot for those looking to enjoy a tranquil paddle through a calm channel, exploring the scenic beauty of South Bay. If you’re after a relaxing day away from the crowds, this is the perfect spot to launch your watercraft.
