Northport Municipal Boat Launch – Centennial Park

Location: 1417B County Road 15, Sophiasburgh Water Access: Bay of Quinte Located in scenic Centennial Park, the Northport Municipal Boat Launch is one of Prince Edward County’s most well-equipped public launches. With direct access to the Bay of Quinte, dual docks, a long concrete ramp, and convenient park amenities, it’s a top choice for both recreational boaters and families spending a day by the water. Launch Features: 19-metre-long concrete ramp with drainage grooves and a 5-metre width, suitable for a variety of watercraft. The launch is accessed via a 2.2-metre concrete pad from a gravel staging area. Dual dock setup: On the left, a multi-section fixed wood dock; on the right, a permanent steel wharf connected to a fixed wooden dock. The larger dock has been installed, and the smaller dock is expected to be installed by the May long weekend. A total of 16 cleats are available for secure tie-off. Water depth at the toe of the ramp is around 8 cm, deepening to approximately 1.3 metres at the dock ends, accommodating most small to mid-size motorboats and paddling craft. More than 15 metres of fairway space for easy maneuvering. On-Site Amenities: Dual docks for convenient docking options. Parking available on-site. Portable washroom available for public use. Centennial Park amenities include a gazebo, playground, picnic areas, and event space. The launch features a bioswale designed to improve stormwater retention and infiltration and to promote naturalization of the area. Things to Know: The launch is approached in a clockwise direction, which is different from most launches in the area, so careful trailer navigation is recommended. The right-hand dock has a steep transition between the steel and wood sections, which may be difficult for those with mobility concerns.
