Governance & Transparency

As a Municipal Services Corporation, our mandate is to promote The County as a destination while managing tourism to ensure it grows responsibly and sustainably. Visit The County’s work is funded by the Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) paid by visitors, not residents, and helps support a strong local economy year-round.

We believe in being open about how we’re funded, how those funds are used, and the impact tourism has here in The County. Tourism plays a big role in keeping our community thriving, supporting local jobs, small businesses, farms, wineries, artists, and more. Chances are, someone you know works in or benefits from the tourism industry. When visitors spend money here, that support ripples throughout the community. Tourism promotion isn’t just about attracting visitors, it’s an investment in the people and places that make The County a great place to live.

We hope the information provided on this page answers any questions you may have about our operations. If there is anything further you wish to know, please reach out to us at hello@visitthecounty.com.

How MAT Supports Prince Edward County
