This practical introduction to rug hooking suitable for beginners and novice alike will cover everything from preparing materials—such as repurposed garments, waste fabrics, or woollen textiles—to mastering the unique technique of hooking through a linen backing.

Participants are encouraged to bring a leaf that inspires them, or to find one on our beautiful farm; this will serve as the muse for your design. Under Graham’s expert instruction, you’ll use provided tools, frames, and materials to craft your own distinctive piece of textile art.

By the end of the day, you’ll have learned all the fundamental skills needed to begin your own rug hooking journey and will leave with a finished creation approximately 10 x 10 inches—perfect for display or as a memorable keepsake.
