After the resounding success of last year’s Beethoven Marathon, we decided to do it again! This year, we will glimpse into the world of Dohnányi, Enescu, and Hahn and learn about what influenced their music. CONCERT 1 – 10:30 AM Meet Ernst von Dohnányi Ensemble Made In Canada with guest violist Sebastian Krunnies from the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra will get us started by showcasing the romantic music of Hungarian composer Dohnányi.
CONCERT 2 – 1:30 PM Meet George Enescu The main concert of the day features Romanian violinist Mihaela Martin, one of the most respected and recognised musicians of her generation. She will perform the demanding and dazzling Sonata no. 3 by Enescu with Ilya Poletaev.
CONCERT 3 – 4:30 PM Meet Reynaldo Hahn And for dessert, everyone will come together, including special guests Alain Coulombe and our very own director Johannes Debus, to immerse you in a Parisian salon where we will feature the poetic music of French Venezuelan composer Hahn.
