Location: McFarland Park Lane, Picton, ON Water Access: Picton Bay → Bay of Quinte Conveniently located along the scenic shoreline of Picton Bay, the HJ McFarland Municipal Boat Launch is a full-service launch site ideal for both motorized and non-motorized watercraft. Whether you're planning a day of fishing, boating, or paddling, this launch offers everything you need to get started. Launch Features The site includes a 30-metre concrete ramp with drainage grooves, suitable for most boat sizes. The approach is smooth and flat with a gravel staging area to prepare your vessel. A fixed wooden dock (10.2 metres long and 1.5 metres wide) provides space to tie up on both sides. Note: There is a slight misalignment between the dock and ramp, so extra care may be needed when boarding or tying off. Water levels at the toe of the ramp are approximately 60 cm, increasing to 1.6 metres at the dock. The launch also offers over 15 metres of open fairway, making it easy to maneuver boats in and out of the water. On-Site Amenities Visitors will find a large parking area suitable for vehicles with trailers, a covered picnic shelter, portable washroom, and a small park with greenspace and shoreline access. The area is also known for wildlife sightings, including Bald Eagles and River Otters. Important Notes Paddlers should be aware of commercial barge traffic accessing the nearby quarry. The access road may be uneven or affected by washouts after heavy rain—please use caution when driving in. Best For Motorboats, fishing vessels, and larger craft Canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards Visitors looking for a well-equipped launch with space to picnic or relax by the water This launch is a great starting point for exploring Picton Bay and the wider Bay of Quinte region.
