Make, Explore, and Shop Your Way Through The County

By: Visit the County Updated: December 2, 2025

Winter in The County is the perfect time to explore its creative side. From galleries and workshops to local shops and historic events, there’s something to inspire every visitor. Embrace your artistic side, meet local makers, and bring home a piece of The County to remember your winter getaway.

Art & Craft Workshops

When was the last time you let your creative side shine? Winter is the perfect opportunity to try something new. From pottery and painting to candle-making, there’s no shortage of ways to spark your inner artist. You'll walk away with a new skill — and maybe even a handmade keepsake (or, let’s be honest, a new project to procrastinate on).

For a creative date idea, spend Valentine’s Day (or any day) at County Creative, the pottery painting studio in Picton—it’s a fun and interactive way to embrace your artistic side. Try your hand at journaling and fluid painting at Rhonda Nolan ART for a 2-hour workshop priced at $125, or learn to knit at Rosehaven Yarn Shop — because who couldn't use a funky new scarf? You can also discover art through workshops at Chetwyn Farms, where winter workshops on fibre arts including knitting and embroidery await.

Live Music & Arts in The County

There’s live music year-round in The County, but this is the time of year when you're most likely to rub elbows with locals while enjoying a live act. Cozy up at venues like the Regent Theatre and Acoustic Grill and enjoy a local craft beer as a musician strums away.

If music isn’t your thing, explore the local art scene by visiting a local gallery—art knows no season! Many galleries and studios are open on weekends or by appointment, so check out the Prince Edward County Arts Council and the Arts Trail PEC to discover local artists. Once you've compiled your must-see list, be sure to confirm hours of operation or schedule an appointment before your visit.

For an outdoor art experience, visit the sculpture garden at Oeno Gallery. Yes, it’s open in winter, and it’s magical! Art lovers should also visit ANDARA Gallery, County Creative, and Arts on Main, all open year-round.

Shop Local and Find That Perfect Gift

Feeling the winter blues? A little retail therapy might be just what you need. Whatever the weather, a stroll along one of The County's main streets should be on your list. With quirky little shops at every turn, you’re bound to find something that screams, "I need this in my life!" You might even end up munching on a County-made treat before you make it back to your car—so be sure to stock up on those goodies, too. Support local makers and bring home a piece of The County to remember your trip.

 Flashback February

The County is steeped in history, and in February, it comes alive with Flashback February, a month dedicated to the culture and heritage of PEC. This event presented by The County Museums offers plenty of opportunities to engage with local history through talks, performances, exhibits, and more. It's the perfect time to experience the past in a fresh, interactive way!

We acknowledge that Prince Edward County rests within the ancestral lands and waters stewarded by the Michi Saagiig Nishnaabeg (Mississauga), Huron Wendat, and Haudenosaunee. This is a place shaped by their presence, languages, and care since time immemorial. To acknowledge this land is to recognize our responsibility to live as good relatives with each other, with the earth, and with the generations yet to come.
