Visit The County Relaunches Prince Edward County Arts Trail
Eight galleries showcase The County’s thriving arts scene, from studios and galleries to outdoor sculpture gardens.
PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, ON (July 2026) - Visit The County is inviting travellers to discover one of Ontario's richest arts destinations with the relaunch of the Prince Edward County Arts Trail.
Established as a self-guided tour, The Arts Trail connects art collectors, buyers and lovers with professional creators and curations in unique single-artist studios and contemporary multi-artist galleries throughout The County. Galleries include a mix of artist studios, galleries and outdoor sculpture gardens, demonstrating the four seasons offering of Prince Edward County.
“Art has always been part of Prince Edward County's identity," said Sarah Fox, Executive Director of Visit The County. "The Arts Trail makes it easier for visitors to experience that creativity firsthand while exploring the region throughout the year."
The 2026 relaunch is a way to target the trip planning phase as a digital-first initiative. This includes a dedicated Arts Trail section on Visit The County's website with gallery profiles, curated itineraries, and trip-planning resources, social media content showcasing each participating gallery and a printed brochure available at key locations in The County.
300 artists in The County
According to Hill Strategies, Prince Edward County has the highest concentration of artists in Ontario and the 7th highest in all of Canada, making it the ideal place to build an Arts Trail. There are more than 300 artists in Prince Edward County, including 70 painters, sculptors & other visual artists, 60 producers, directors, choreographers & related occupations, and 50 writers. PEC artists also fall within the other 7 artist occupation groups: actors, comedians & circus performers; conductors, composers & arrangers; craftspeople; dancers; musicians; other performers; and photographers.
Arts Trail Galleries
At launch, there are eight participating galleries, allowing visitors to discover inspiring artworks in a range of price points and media. Collectively, galleries offer incredible works of sculpture, paintings, photography, woodwork, prints, drawing, mixed media, furniture, glass, fabric, ceramics and more:
●ANDARA Gallery: Award-winning gallery, named Top 10 Best Art Galleries in Ontario (2025, 2026), where visitors can meet the artists and take part in hands-on workshops in a light-filled rural setting
● Tom Ashbourne Studio & Gallery: Visit a globally recognized sculptor's working studio and experience large-scale stone and multi-media works up close
● Mad Dog Gallery: Established in 1990, this countryside gallery in a converted timber-frame barn showcasing local artists across multiple mediums, with a long standing showcase of local PEC artists
● Oeno Gallery: A destination gallery representing international and Canadian artists, set on a winery estate featuring a 3-acre sculpture garden
● J. Douglas Thompson Fine Paintings: Visit a working painter's studio and gallery set on a peaceful rural property, with the artist on-site to walk you through his process
● Melt Studio & Gallery: A contemporary gallery inside a historic WWII barracks showcasing 25+ Canadian artists and an active encaustic studio
● Guildworks: Great for design-conscious travellers. A design-forward gallery representing 50+ Canadian artists and dedicated to Canadian handmade craft, featuring ceramics, textiles, glass, and more
● County Creative: Represents 25+ Canadian artists. A hybrid gallery and pottery studio where visitors can both shop and create their own pieces
